Embracing a “Do What Feels Right!” Workflow and Mindset

Create a System that Works for You

Maintaining and keeping a productive work day flow is a goal for all of us. But, this is easier said than done. I personally have always been a to-do list maker. I have had a to-do list every week of my life. It has helped me prioritize the most important activities I need to do for the day and week going forward. Do you enjoy making lists or do you create another system that works well for you? I hope that by sharing my personal “Do What Feels Right!” workflow, it may help you pinpoint your own triggers as well as recognize the best self-motivating activities to ease you toward increased productivity.

What Happens When Items on Your To-Do List are Going Well?

I often notice that smaller, more manageable tasks to complete, give you great momentum and allow for more flexibility. It definitely feels great to see oneself progressing at a good pace. In addition to checking things off my list, I like to reward myself with a water break or a snack break as you will see happen in my video below. Not only does it provide motivation to complete more tasks, it also provides more energy during my work time for sustaining longer periods of focus. At the end of my work day, I pat myself on the back but also remind myself that everyday will have a different level of productivity. I have to “ride the wave” of my work life and give myself grace when unexpected setbacks come to pass.

What Happens When Items on Your To-Do List are Going Badly?

The issue I run into most days is that some items on my list become unexpectedly harder to complete. I find myself becoming frustrated with the amount of time that it takes to get them done. There are moments when I have to stop and do something completely unrelated and take some time to breathe and tell myself that this is happening for some unknown reason. I tell myself to embrace the struggle because in the end it will all be for a better result. I mention in my video below that I had a technology issue happen to me which really frustrated me and interrupted my workflow. I found that doodling helped me get through that tough time. The question is: “What activity grounds you and helps you move past difficulties during your workday in a positive way?”
