Imagine the Possibilities
You are beautifully unique and your dreams for the present and future are evolving–changing to fit the life you want to lead. Vision boards are incredibly helpful in visually representing all the facets of life you desire to have and hold dear. The possibilities are endless. A vision board displays your desires in direct and clear focus. Here are some helpful tips and ideas to help you achieve your goals:
Topics of Interest
There are general topics to keep in mind when brainstorming for images, words, or phrases to add to your vision board. Take a look at this list:
Work and Career
Health and Lifestyle
Hobbies and Special Interests
Financial Goals
Relationships (romantic, family, and friend)
Travel and Shopping
Personal Development (confidence, joy, responsibility, etc.)
Collecting your Materials
Images
There are many ways to collect imagery and text you feel connected with including helpful websites that offer images for free such as Pexels and Unsplash. These websites offer free images without the need to pay. Another awesome website is Canva. The free version is great but the Pro plan is amazing!! If you find yourself in a creative space for your business or other personal ventures, I highly recommend it.
Magazines offer great options for clipping, also promotional pamphlets, stickers and workbooks. I recently discovered vision board clip art books online. They contain a multitude of images that can be great for those that want to save some time and want to pick from curated visuals. Here is a positive affirmations clip art book you could look into buying for yourself or for a vision board party with friends or family.
Base
There are many base materials you could use to create your vision board. I used to have a giant piece of cardboard which was great, but I needed something more sturdy and a bit more styled to fit my office space. I opted for a a smaller cork board with a wooden frame. I also spray painted the frame in satin bronze to give it a more antiqued look. I have seen people use poster board or linen covered panels as well. Whatever you feel is best for your budget and style will be great!
Craft Supplies
Here are some recommend items to use to put your vision board together:
scissors
markers or pens
tape (clear, masking, Washi, etc.)
pins (colorful, neutral, sparkly, etc.)
You could use a mixture of 2D and 3D paper or objects as long as you can place them on the board safely so that they will stay on securely. It is also important to think about how you will arrange them on your board. Do you like a collage style, creating category groupings, or having mostly words or phrases rather than just images? I personally like a collage style with a balance of both images and text. So, each board will come together differently for each of us which makes creating one amazingly unique.
Creative Space
When you gather all your materials, find a space to spread out all your supplies, embellishments, images, etc. Some of us like to vision board in group settings or prefer to do it in private. Some like to have music in the background for concentration or the vibes (LOL) while others want silence with no distractions in order to create their vision boards. No matter the setting, yours will turn out great!
